A 100 percent subsidiary of APPL, ECOAIR was formed exclusively for industrial cooling systems. Today, ECOAIR is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s, ambitious “Make in India” campaign. ECOAIR specialises in air coolers that are more centralized cooling systems than air-conditioning systems with the added advantage of cost. These systems can bring down temperatures to about 20-degree C and typically Cooling the hot air out and throwing in cool air simultaneously. While temperatures mainly depend on their surroundings, they can be controlled. Restaurants in Pune such as Farzi Cafe and several Café Coffee Day (CCD) outlets boast the ECOAIR cooling system.
Lately, ECOAIR has come up with a new product – HVLS (high volume, low speed) fan, which is so big, it looks like a helicopter propeller and has nearly 24-feet-long blades. A single HVLS fan covers 15,000 feet. These fans mostly find use in warehouses where air circulation is a problem. Interestingly, ECOAIR HVLS fans are already in use at the Mahindra workshop, Mumbai CST, Delhi station, Maruti suzuki, Hyundai etc. Plans are afoot to move into bigger, more public spaces such as airports and so on.
